In dating, our goal should be to grow and guard.
We want to grow closer so we can truly know each others character, but we also want to guard each others hearts because the outcome of our relationship is still unknown.
We should acknowledge that the future is unknown and that we should treat each other with the kind of integrity that will allow us to look back on our relationship without regret, regardless of the outcome.
It's a balancing act. Sure we have the clear purpose to consider marriage but we also need to fight the urge to assume that we are going to get married.
However, if God leads you to marriage, you won't need to guard your hearts - you will belong to each other completely.
"Life's most valuable lessons often occur in the midst of our greatest pain."
Some peoples biggest mistakes in romantic relationships were almost all results of impatience.
Wisdom calls us to slow down. "I wait for you , O Lord, you will answer, O Lord, my God." Psalms 38:15
Patience is an expression of trust that God, can create a wonderful relationship in His time.
